Arsenal Gunners Fall Early

Arsenal Gunners Fall Early

Heading into the Champion’s league final stretch, Arsenal are expected to make some noise due to their tremendous play all season. Unfortunately for the Gunner’s they ran into an opponent who was expected to be an easy victory. The Gunner’s went to battle against Monaco at Emirates Stadium and came out after ninety minutes stunned at the result. Monaco left Emirates Stadium with a 3-1 victory, shocking the entire Champion’s League, but more importantly crippling Arsenal’s chances at a league title.
Reporters, commentators and even several coaches explained to the media that this was a game that Arsenal should have won without a problem. Everyone agreed though that Monaco came out of the gate with a fire in their eyes while Arsenal played very conservative rather then sticking to their game plans which got them this far already. Even though Monaco played this game as perfectly as they could have, The Gunners had their chances but could not convert in several situations. Oliver Giroud and Mesut Ozil both had chances to give Arsenal the lead or tie the match up, but barely missed on shots that either went wide or sailed over the cross bar. According to ESPN, “Arsenal failed to get out of first gear and were punished as Olivier Giroud had a night to forget, missing several good chances.”

Even though Arsenal dropped an almost certain match, the past several of matches and attitudes of the players and coaches made it seem as if they are more focused on the FA Cup, rather than the Champions League Cup. The Gunner’s need to focus in order to get back on track if they want any chance to beat their rivals Manchester United. This extremely anticipated matchup is by far Arsenal’s most important match of the year. They will be facing a solid Manchester United team looking to show the world that they are still one of the top teams in all of football. Only time will tell who pulls off this victory in the star studded match.
