It’s a busy midweek in Serie A with 9 games taking place tonight that could have a massive effect at both ends of the table.

Lazio vs Napoli:
First we start at the Stadio Olimpico where Lazio host a Napoli side who sit in 1st place and are desperate to take another step towards ending the 26 year wait for a Scudetto. Lazio, however will be keen to extract revenge on Partenopei after the 5-0 thrashing in Naples. If Lazio are to get anything out of this game they will have to silence Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain who has been in frightening form in front of goal this season scoring 22 goals (the best in any of Europe’s top five leagues) in just 22 Serie A games. Lazio have been disappointing this season after finishing third in the league last season, The Rome based club are sitting in 8th this season and the likes of Felipe Anderson and Antonio Candreva have not discovered last season’s blistering form, despite Lazio’s unexpected league position this season they have been in reasonably good form after going 7 games unbeaten. Expect a brilliant game in Rome tonight.

Juventus vs Genoa:
The main rivals to Napoli are Juventus who host Genoa tonight at the Juventus Stadium. Juventus are aiming for their 5 consecutive Serie A trophy this season and after a shaky start to the season the Turin based side have given themselves a big chance of getting that 5th straight title after recording an incredible 12 straight Serie A wins. An unsung hero for Juventus is the Italian international Giorgio chiellini, the centre back is showing that he can still perform at the top despite being 31. He has played 19 games out of 22 and has contributed in Juventus last 3 games which have all resulted in clean sheets. Genoa have slipped alarmingly down the table this season and sit in 16th place just two places above the relegation places, Genoa fans are very upset with the sale of key player Diego Perotti who was just sold to roma and had been one of the consistent performers for Genoa this season. Despite the place in which Genoa hold in the league table they are unbeaten in their last four and should be a better test for Juventus than most are expecting.

Carpi vs Fiorentina:
When Carpi came up in May last year everyone was talking about how they would go straight back down but they have held their own in Serie A this season and they host Fiorentina tonight at Stadio Alberto Braglia. Despite Carpi sitting in 18th place the club are going through a very good run of form with them going unbeaten in 5 games, one of those games was a 1-1 draw away at high flyers Inter Milan. Carpi should have their work cut out tonight though as 3rd place Fiorentina come to town, the Viola are having a very good season and are one of the leading contenders for a champions league spot. The key man for Fiorentina is Nikola Kalinic who Premier league fans might remember from an unsuccessful spell at Blackburn Rovers. The 28 year old has proved doubters wrong this season scoring a very respectable 10 league goals in 20 league games. Despite Kalinic being in good form and Fiorentina sitting in third the Viola have only won once in their last 4 league games, so a big chance for Carpi to close the gap on the teams above them.
